Dylan Kerr is an Irish artist working between performance and sound. Their practice is deeply attuned to place, often creating works that engage with the unique resonant qualities and histories of specific environments. In their compositions, they combine process-based methods, microtonality, and extended vocal techniques to explore psychoacoustic phenomena such as beating, interference patterns, and the interplay between the voice and space.
Their practice also includes site-specific, durational, endurance-based performances, shaped by the environments they inhabit. Kerr's work is a dialogue between the body, voice, and space, exploring what is inscribed in a location's history and resonance, and how these elements are transduced and embodied through their performance.
Recent works include Caoineadh an Chóibh, a 24-hour durational work at the Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Ireland (2025), reflecting on Cobh's history as a departure point for those displaced by colonisation, and Solo for Breath (2025), exploring the timbral and spectral qualities of breath through extended techniques.
